Luxury safari operator Singita has expanded its portfolio with the opening of Kilima, an exclusive-use villa in Tanzania's Grumeti Reserve that caters to high-end family and group travelers seeking an intimate Serengeti experience with a focus on wellness and natural connection.
The new property, whose name means "mountain" in Swahili, can accommodate up to 10 guests across five suites. Perched on Sasakwa Hill within the 350,000-acre reserve, Kilima offers panoramic views of the Serengeti plains and prime positioning for witnessing the annual wildebeest migration.

Aligned with Singita's Wholeness concept, the villa integrates wellness experiences throughout the guest journey. The property features dedicated spaces for yoga and fitness alongside wellness treatments that draw on the restorative power of the surrounding landscape. Private heated pools in select suites and an infinity pool overlooking the plains provide additional opportunities for relaxation.
Dedicated staff, private experiences
The villa's design merges contemporary luxury with traditional African elements, featuring earthy tones and natural textures throughout its indoor and outdoor spaces. A dedicated staff -- including private field guides, personal chefs and butlers -- allows for customized safari experiences, from intimate starlit dinners to private wine tastings from the villa's cellar.

Recognizing the growing trend in multigenerational safari travel, Kilima offers specialized programming for younger guests. Children can participate in the Mini Rangers Course, where they learn tracking skills and bush survival techniques, as well as cooking classes, guided nature walks and supervised arts and crafts sessions. This frees up parents to fully engage in their own wellness experiences or safari activities.
The property's location in the Grumeti Reserve, known for exceptional game viewing, positions it along ancient wildlife migration routes. Indoor and outdoor living spaces are designed to maximize views of the grasslands below, creating seamless connections between luxury accommodations and the natural environment.
The opening comes as luxury safari operators continue to see growing demand for exclusive-use properties that offer both privacy and flexibility for family and group travel. Kilima joins Singita's existing portfolio of private villas across Africa, including properties in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
