Brinley Hineman, an award-winning reporter, has been named Travel Weekly's senior editor covering tours and river cruises.
In the role, she will be responsible for reporting news about the tour and river cruise sectors and will write the biweekly river cruise eNewsletter, as well as contribute cover stories, trend stories and our research issues.
"We're excited to have Brinley join us," said Travel Weekly editor in chief Arnie Weissmann. "Her experience in both consumer and trade publications and the recognition she has received are impressive. We look forward to her contributions to this critical beat and to having her as a member of the team."
Hineman joins Travel Weekly from Firecrown, where she was a general assignment reporter covering the freight, aviation and marine industries for an audience of industry leaders and executives. Prior to that, Hineman was a reporter for the Long Island, N.Y.-based daily Newsday and for The Tennessean, part of the USA Today Network, where she handled breaking news and business, health and education coverage for both local and national audiences.
Hineman began her journalism career at The Daily News Journal in Tennessee, where she won the Malcolm Law Investigative Reporting Award, Tennessee's highest investigative reporting honor, for her series on a dentist who defrauded patients. She shares a staff award at The Tennessean for her contributions covering a Christmas Day bomb explosion in downtown Nashville.
While at Newsday, she was honored with the Press Club of Long Island's first-place award for a story on the mental health of new mothers during the pandemic, which highlighted the isolation and anxiety faced by women during that period.
Hineman is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and is from West Virginia. She now lives in Brooklyn and will be based out of Travel Weekly's New York City office.
