Mexico's Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is getting a rebrand, with Hyatt Hotels Corp. unveiling plans to reflag the property under its Alila luxury brand.
The hotel will close on March 2, undergo extensive renovations, and reopen as the Alila Mayakoba later this year.
As part of the revamp, the property will reduce its overall room count while increasing its share of suites to 40% of total inventory.

New wellness facilities will also be added, including a renovated spa with outdoor hydrotherapy areas and a traditional Mexican temazcal sweat lodge.
Additionally, the culinary program will be overhauled to include a coffee shop, an all-day restaurant with on-site organic garden, two signature restaurants, a new lobby lounge, a beachfront dining venue and a beach club.
Guests with existing Andaz Mayakoba reservations after March 2 are being given the option to relocate to other Hyatt properties, choose another hotel within the Mayakoba resort complex or cancel without penalty. (The Mayakoba complex is also home to the Fairmont Mayakoba, Rosewood Mayakoba and Banyan Tree Mayakoba.)
The Alila Mayakoba will be Hyatt's first Alila-branded resort in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
